- both as "The Flying Finn"
- and "Peerless Paavo"
- -- with good reason. He
- rarely lost. At the 1920,
- 1924, and 1928 Olympics, Paavo won nine
- gold medals -- more than anyone ever has
- -- and three silver medals. During his
- running career, the Flying Finn set an
- amazing 29 world records at distances from
- 1,500 meters to 20,000 meters!
